What is Family Therapy?

Family can provide us with great support, comfort, and joy, yet it can also be our biggest source of stress and heartache. As a family therapist, I believe that family plays a critical role in our development and well-being. Stressful situations, such as the death of a loved one, physical or mental illness, marital conflict, divorce, financial hardship, or child behavior problems can threaten to tear your family apart. Family counseling can help your family get through challenging times together.

How Does Family Therapy Work?

I believe that every family is a unique social system with its own values, beliefs, personalities, and communication styles. No matter what your family looks like, family counseling can provide a place of refuge for loved ones to come together and heal, repair, and strengthen their connections with one another. Throughout our work together, we examine your family’s ability to solve problems and communicate thoughts and feelings effectively. Over time, family members will understand each other better and learn new ways of relating and dealing with conflict.

I have experience working with the following family issues:

  • Communication Problems
  • Life Transitions
  • Trauma
  • Children and Adolescent
  • Divorce or Separation
  • Parenting
  • Trauma
  • Gender & Orientation Issue
